Hargeisa City, Maroodi Jeex, Somaliland A.R.
443rd International City of Peace
The City of Peace Ideal is for Humanity
Hargeisa is the largest city and capital of the Somaliland A.R., an Autonomous Region since 1991. Rather than waiting on other countries and the United Nations to officially recognize the Autonomous Region, the leaders of the government are proceeding to establish and implement peacebuilding goals and objectives as Hargeisa City becomes, today, an official International City of Peace. “A Foundation for Peace in Hargeisa,” writes Mr. Hassan Mohamed Abdilahi, a City Director, “the Department of Security for the local government plays a vital role in creating a safe and stable environment, helping to establish a true City of Peace.” Mr, Hassan Mohamed Abdilahi and Deputy Director Mr. Muhyadin Mohammed Muhummad, as well as the Mayor of Hargeisa, Abdikarim Ahmed Moge, are committed to the journey toward a true Peace City with goals that provide for the safety, prosperity, and quality of life for all its citizens. Though International Cities of Peace does not work with countries, each city and community in the world can dream and invoke the City of Peace ideal in vision and reality. We commend these leaders.
